Journey along the ocean, much of the Confederation Trail, red dirt roads, beaches and quiet secondary roads of Prince Edward Island. The Island Walk has the perfect landscape, both in terrain and scenery, for those who are looking for a long-distance walking adventure.
From the white sand beaches to dramatic red cliffs and the fairytale-like red dirt roads canopied with hardwood stands, a new long-distance walking adventure awaits you on Prince Edward Island.
The Island Walk is a 700 km walking route that loops around the perimeter of PEI. It takes approximately 32 days to complete walking at a pace of 20 to 25 kilometres a day. Because the walk is not technically difficult, it has options for everyone. Complete the entire Island Walk route or tackle it in sections. Plan a half-day hike through places that inspired LM Montgomery or hike one or two of the 32 sections – how do the “Singing Sands and Tasty Treats” or "Shores and History" sections sound ? Guaranteed, you’ll be tempted to go further.
So, what does the Island Walk offer? A chance to fall deep in thought and be immersed in the Island’s unforgettable views. Every town and village has its own mix of quaint and culture, historic landmarks, phenomenal landscapes and welcoming accommodation operators. Oh, and PEI is also a must-visit destination for food lovers. Canada’s Food Island has craft brews, world-famous potatoes and fresh seafood to keep you fueled for your daily trek.
